Things You Need to Know About Electricians

If it is the time for you to call an electrician your home, you should learn few things about them before you hire them. Through this article, we have tried to literate you on those facts.
Please consider following 4 things while hiring an electrician.
1.     Many areas of specialty
Electricians should have the capability to work in more than one area. Reputable electricians should be able to provide both residential and commercial services.

2.     Problem solving skills
Most of an electrician’s job is to identify the problem, finding its solution and rectify it. All the potential problems may not be taught during their training. They should have the experience and resources to tackle any electrical problems and solve them. Make sure the electrician you consider is licensed in the state.

3.     Electricians need to pass a color test
Only electricians who are able to identify each wire’s color exactly can be properly licensed. This is important as the electrical circuits are typically a bunch of different colored wires which have an exact function for each wire. Any mistake made with the wire colors can be extremely hazardous and may end up costing you much, MUCH more.

4.     Training duration of a Master Electrician
A qualified, licensed master electrician will under-go training for several years. They will also have several years of practical experience. Before they can even apply for Master Electrician status, they need to have in-field experience of a minimum of 3 years.

If you need to hire an experienced, licensed electrician in the Dallas metro, please contact Caddell Electric services. Visit http://www.dallaselectricrepair.com/ for details.

Yes, all electrical contracting companies must be licensed as an electrical contractor in the State of Texas. This is designed to insure customer safety and protection by requiring the licensed company maintain a minimum adequate general liability insurance policy. It also requires the company to be directly supervised by a licensed Master Electrician.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!!!! It is absolute imperative that you check the status of any electrician before you hire them. There are MANY unlicensed electricians operating illegally all around Dallas, Plano, Garland and smaller cities. These illegal electricians even advertise that they operate with insurance and proper license. Just because you find an electrician on the internet or in a phone book doesn’t mean they are licensed. You can check the status of any electrician or electrical repair company in the state of Texas at http://www.license.state.tx.us. Don’t be afraid to ask any electrical contractor for their license number. If the contractor is following the rules he will be happy to give it to you.

Some Easy Electricity Saving Tips in Plano

Saving energy is one of the easiest ways to curb household expenses. Everyone likes to save money and minimizing utility bills is one of the easiest ways, but many of us lack the information to be efficient and conserving. Here are some easy tips to lower your electricity bill. If you live in Plano the climate is unique and these are fairly common, yet little known, tips that just about any Plano electrician professional should be able to give you.
Light and appliances turned OFF!
The simplest way to save energy is to remember to turn off lights as you leave the room. With lighting, compact fluorescent light bulbs are the best at conserving energy, as they use 75 % less energy than an average light bulb. The same goes for all appliances, simply turn off a device, which is not in use and significantly lower your bills. In the Plano market, there are now low cost devices available from electricians and electrical supply stores, that can sense when a light or an appliance is no longer needed and automatically shut the device off. It can also be set to automatically turn on!
Temperature Comfort
  • Always purchase your heating and cooling machines with an ENERGY STAR® rating, as it was built to save energy.
  • Keep your furnace clean, lubricated, and properly maintained with annual maintenance from professionals; you could consult an electrician in the Fort Worth area for quotes on maintenance contracts.  If your furnace is working at peak efficiency, it will use less energy and this offsets the cost of maintenance. Proper professional maintenance can save you money.
  • Change your air conditioning filters after every 1-3 months, depending on usage and the changing Plano weather. Dirty or clogged filters cause air conditioners to use more energy.
  • Don’t switch off the air conditioning when you are out of the room or the house just for a short time. As the room warms up and starts to match the outside temperature, it will use more energy to cool the room back down than if you had maintained a level temperature and let the thermostat do its job.
  • Install a programmable thermostat, which helps to maintain an energy efficient temperature for your house according to your own comfort level.
  • Use ceiling fans as opposed to air conditioning when the temperature outside is moderate as they significantly make the room cooler at fraction of the cost.
Laundry and cleaning
  • Use a front loading washing machine with a full load in cold water, as 85-90 % consumption of energy happens in heating the water while washing.
  • Use the dishhwasher only with a full load and use the option of air-dry on the ‘energy saver’ setting.
Windows, doorframes, sills and joints
  • On a sunny day, open your windows to get natural sun light and allow a breeze to flow through the house.
  • Apply a sealant, and plastic covers around windows, door frames, sills and joints to keep cold out in winter and cold in during summer. Also insulate your basement walls.
  • Plug in gaps around pipes, vents, ducts, and fans to avoid leakage of conditioned air.
Paying attention to these small things and holding yourself and your family to a certain set of rules until they become a habit can save hundreds of dollars per year on your energy bills.

When you want all the electronic devices in your office to be safe from power surges and spikes, you need to install a surge suppressor that can guard your entire electrical system. The Main Causes of Electrical Fires?

Electrical fires can be caused by a variety of reasons, such as faulty electrical systems, kitchen and home appliances or even minor mistakes in your electrical wiring.
According to researchers, most of the electrical fires are caused in the month of December because the winter invites a good deal of increased indoor activities. Property damages and even fatalities go up which is the result of increased electrical loads due to the additional usage of lighting, using more appliances and of course heating demands.
Electrical Systems should be carefully inspected annually by professionals since faulty wiring and increased loads can be such huge fire hazards. Caddell Electric is a well-known company that has the expertise required in dealing with issues involving meter bases, electric panels and code compliance. If your feel your electrical system needs a thorough check up, please contact Caddell Electric today.
If you own Stab-Lock breakers, they’ve been shown to fail to trip when getting hot and that can  can cause fires threatening your home, business and family.. They can also short circuit which can also cause a fire in your home. We’re not insinuating that just because you may have the Stb Lock breaker boxes they will definitely cause fires. We are just informing you that this brand of breaker boxes is not the quality you probably think you have and it is a good idea to have them tested and checked to be on safe side.
Things such as old, worn or outdated wiring, old plugs, and cords on old appliances may also cause fires. Even though they seem to be small issues, they can be the cause of huge monetary losses or worse one day. Home appliances that can cause a big threat are things like electric stoves, ovens, heating units, dryers, lamps and lighting, microwaves and so on. Most of us never even consider the risk but all those things increase the load on your breakers.
As they say, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. It’s better to take care of your electrical systems and have them inspected once yearly than to take the risk of major problems due to something easy to fix.  Caddell Electric can eliminate a lot of that risk. Call 214-328-4567  to learn what services  we offer. We employ only licensed, well trained, professional electricians in Dallas.
